i don’t think you can separate this white north american attitude from the idea of ownership and property that’s built into capitalism. seeing your kids as little moochers that you own. thinking that your kids are “taking advantage” of you or pulling one over on you by “slacking off” is just an extension of the notion that work = morality. so “teaching” your kid that “life is unfair” and “you have to work or you’ll have nothing at all” is the right thing to do. yeah life is unfair, do you have to be too? did your kid ask to be born? did your kid sign a contract with you? its so twisted
the funny thing is that from what i’ve seen the more you treat kids this way the more they will treat YOU this way, so if you make everything in the family transactional they will start to approach your relationship transactionally. then these parents will turn around and whine about how their kids just try to hit them up for money and nothing else, no love no care, sorry who raised them to value money above all else? wasn’t me

Uh if under a post that already specifically named the notable war-crime-committing governments of US and Israel and a use of “they” made your mind jump to “THE JEWS!!!,” that is a YOU problem. Maybe stop associating the Israeli government with Jewish people as a whole when Jewish anti-Zionism has been prominent since its inception and Jewish protestors are getting arrested by the hundreds for opposing its war crimes or even its existence.
Settler colonialism seeks to totally dominate the land with the political, economic, military, cultural, linguistic and religious hegemony of the bourgeois settler state for the purpose of replacing the previous inhabitants on their land with their own homes and towards capitalist development.
This means ethnically cleansing increasing amounts of territory until the indigenous peoples are totally surrounded, transformed into a permanent demographic minority, have lost all but the most minimal of sovereignty, economic independence and political autonomy, and have been concentrated into small isolated territories.
Settler colonialism is a genocidal project. It by necessity instills a sense of racial nationalism, ethnic chauvinism, and religious supremacy in its settler agents. It trains its settlers to be combatants in a war of extermination. It ties the livelihood of the settler to the destruction of the native. It replaces the hegemonic social and economic institutions within that territory with its own to service capitalism and empire.
Settler colonialism as a structure must be destroyed if there is to be any justice in this world.
